BREANNA THE ESTHI LOGO

2022

Breanna reached out to me to create a logo for her brand. I decided to book with her to get a feel of what she offered. Based off her content and the experience she provided me during my services. I proposed we'd make a logo that captured her services and her vibe all together.

The Face

Breanna already knew what colors she wanted and the preferred typeface. My challenge was finding an icon. I revisited her content on her instagram page and was inspired to outline my own face to use as the main icon.

The Sketch

I met with Breanna to discuss my idea using a design brief. She approved and after multiple pictures of myself, I decided on the previous one which I outlined by hand and created this rough sketch. I had a familiarity with outlining since I use to do it as a kid with my favorite characters. After outlining and erasing multiple times, I scanned it and uploaded it to Adobe Photoshop to begin the digitizing process.

Digital Icon Part 1

When uploaded to Adobe Photoshop there was a lot of cleaning up to do. I found myself stuck trying to rid of the excess lines and smudges that transferred from the scan. This process took me the longest due to the lack of knowledge I had in Photoshop. I spent about 3 hours for 3 days learning how to clean up the excess marks, colors and wiggly lines as much as possible.

Digital Icon Part II

Once cleaned in Photoshop, I created a PNG file of the outline and uploaded it to Adobe Illustrator. I also faced a challenge her since Illustrator was having a hard time creating a vector image. I had to go back and forth between Photoshop a fews time before I made one that worked. This was frustrating. Once that was completed, I turned the outline into a vector image and began coloring it in, then rasterized the vector creating this digital icon.

The Digital Sketch

Following a loosely similar process to the creation of BreannaTheEsthi's logo. I discussed the direction and identity she wanted her brand to take, she requested a logo that was simple, elegant and had an earthy feel. I offered to create a signature logo for her that would me her request.

More details to come soon.

RAZA UCSD PNG BUTTON DESIGN PROJECT

2022

The website for the RAZA Resource Center at the University of California, San Diego was undergoing a redesign by a friend of mine. He asked me if I could create a set of PNG buttons that could help elevate the site. This project followed the similar design process to BreannaTheEsthii, but due to beginners mistake I lost all the files due to improper file management.

La Mariposa PNG

My friend was interning at the RAZA resource center when he asked me to create four png's that would be used as buttons for the new website. I decided to research their website and go back to the center itself to further understand its brand and identity.  Based on observing the culture inside the RAZA resource center and taking parts of their logo, I sketched and then later digitized this Monarch Butterfly that captured the hispanic culture and the center.

Geisel Library PNG

Next was this PNG icon that was also hand sketched then digitized. This PNG was inspired by UC San Diego's very own Geisel Library. I was having trouble sketching the 3D elements hence this one took me the longest. I failed to make perfectly straight lines on the pillars of this PNG. Instead to help elevate my mistakes I chose to color it darker which didn't completely hide my mistakes, but allowed for the image to still uphold an elegant nature.

The Pyramid

This was actually the final image I came up with since I wanted to do two PNGs that were UC San Diego themed and two that were RAZA and hispanic inspired. I ended up reading deeper in La Raza movement which led me to be inspired by the monument in Mexico City as well as the protest signs created during the movement to create this PNG.

La Raza Triton

This PNG was not intended to be a hybrid of UC San Diego and the Raza Resource Center. I sketched multiple versions of this one as just a triton. I ended up discussing with my friend and we came to conclusion that just a triton is too simple compared to the others. It needed to blend. I referred back to some of my favorite design works and ended up with this.
